What are the Seattle Bay Front newer home communities?
I have determined by citydata.com the median home age for Seattle is 49 years - though by searching on apartment sites you would not know it with too many gorgeous modern designs, I DON'T GET IT?
I am looking for a Seattle Metro community that is:
a. Bay Front or Ocean Front
b. Medan Home Age less 35 years
c. Population Density index 2,500+
(2, 500 persons per sq mile)
Is Lower Queen Anne the only community?
There has to be more right?
Please list them all, yes I know Seattle is generally very costly in terms of housing rentals - but I want to keep my possibilities open depending on how well my coming Seattle business fairs.
Thanks a lot Seattelers and praise to your great city! - a former Michigander
I'm pretty sure I've answered your question before (though I mis-interpreted home age to mean home-owner age).
You'll find that there are few neighborhoods that are all new in the Seattle area. The densest areas, which usually means more newer apartments and condos are Lower Queen Anne, Belltown and Capitol Hill. LQA and Belltown are "Eliott Bay front" (the Ocean is a several hour drive away, and only Downtown/Belltown and LQA and West Seattle are Eliott Bay front). These neighborhoods are mostly apartments and condos, some newer and some older. Many places in Capitol hill will have a view to downtown, but it's about mid-way between Eliott Bay and Lake Washington.
West Seattle tends to be slightly more affordable, though anything with a view will fetch a premium in any neighborhood. There are also some newer apartment/condos there as well. But in all of these neighborhoods, the houses are 1920-60's vintage unless they've been torn down and replaced.
I think you'll need to make a visit here and wander the neighborhoods yourself to get a good feel for the area. There are distinct neighborhoods here (Belltown is more "hip", Fremont is more "funky", Wallingford is a bit more family oriented for example).
Finally, are you just looking for the view or for water access? The best beaches are in West Seattle and Ballard (Golden Gardens). Fremont is also near Gasworks park on Lake Union for water access. There are very few sandy beaches in this area - most of it is rocky and the water is cold.
